LICENSING

How licensing works.

AgentsWorklog is source-available under the NFSL-1.0-MIT — free to self-host for any non-competing use, with paid hosted plans and commercial licensing for resale. Here’s the shape of it.

FREE

Self-host under the NFSL

The source is published under the Non-Compete Functional Source License. Run your own instance for any non-competing use — internal teams, education, research — at no cost. Each release converts to MIT after ten years.

PAID

Hosted plans

Prefer not to run it yourself? We host a shared worklog for your team on a monthly plan. Nothing to operate; access is still governed entirely by GitHub.

COMMERCIAL

Resale & white-label

Building a product on top of AgentsWorklog, or offering it to your own customers? A commercial license covers white-label resale, embedding, and uses that fall outside the NFSL’s Permitted Purpose.

What is a “Competing Use”?

Broadly, offering AgentsWorklog (or something substantially similar) to others as a commercial product or service. Internal use, education, and research are always permitted. See the licence for the exact terms.

Do I need a commercial licence to self-host?

No. Self-hosting for your own non-competing use is free under the NFSL. A commercial licence is only needed to resell, white-label, or embed it in a competing product.

When does the code become MIT?

Each released version converts to the permissive MIT licence on the tenth anniversary of its release.

This page is a plain-English overview and will be expanded before launch — it is not the binding agreement. The licence text lives in LICENSE.md, with a summary in LICENSING.md. Nothing here is legal advice.
